Microsoft’s March Patch Tuesday Delivers Windows 11 KB5079473 Features and Windows 10 KB5078885 Security Fixes

Overview
- Windows 11 KB5079473 is rolling out to versions 24H2 and 25H2 with a taskbar network speed test, Camera pan/tilt controls, Emoji 16, a redesigned Widgets panel, and faster wake from sleep.
- The update adds native Sysmon event capture, RSAT support on Arm64, and enables Quick Machine Recovery by default on unmanaged Windows Pro devices.
- Microsoft is expanding deployment of Secure Boot 2023 certificates using telemetry-based targeting, with certificates applied only after sufficient successful update signals.
- Windows 10 KB5078885 is available to ESU-enrolled and Enterprise LTSC devices, updating systems to build 19045.7058 (or 19044.7058 for LTSC 2021) and fixing 79 vulnerabilities including two zero-days.
- The Windows 10 patch also resolves shutdown and hibernation failures on Secure Launch systems and addresses a GPU-related stability bug reported to break the Start menu and taskbar.
