Microsoft Will End OneDrive Integration With Samsung Gallery on September 30, 2026

Continuing photo backups will require the OneDrive app with Camera backup enabled.

Overview

  • Microsoft confirmed the Samsung GalleryOneDrive sync will stop on September 30, 2026, after which photos stored in OneDrive will no longer appear inside the Gallery app.
  • To keep backing up new photos and videos, Galaxy users must install the OneDrive app, sign in to a Microsoft account, and enable the app’s Camera backup feature with permission to access device media.
  • Microsoft says files already stored in OneDrive will not be deleted or changed and will remain accessible through the OneDrive mobile app or onedrive.com.
  • The change was posted quietly on a Microsoft support page and flagged on Reddit before being reported by tech outlets, and it creates modest extra friction because the Gallery link previously required only a login.
  • The integration traces to a 2019 Microsoft–Samsung partnership; affected users can switch to OneDrive’s app or alternative services such as Google Photos or Amazon Photos depending on storage needs and workflow preferences.
