Overview
- Fortune reported Friday that Microsoft is internally developing a single “super app” to connect GitHub Copilot, Copilot chat, Copilot Cowork and a new internal workflow called Autopilot into one interface.
- The effort is led by Jacob Andreou under the internal slogan “Delivering one Copilot,” and may include a toggle to switch between personal and enterprise Microsoft 365 Copilot accounts while leaving standalone access intact.
- Microsoft may preview elements of the strategy at its Build developer conference next week and is reportedly targeting a public launch by the end of summer 2026, though multiple outlets say the design and timeline remain fluid and Microsoft declined to comment.
- The push responds to business pressure: fewer than 4.5% of roughly 450 million Microsoft 365 seats currently pay for Copilot features while GitHub Copilot has more than 4.7 million paid subscribers, and rivals from OpenAI, Google, Anthropic and startups are intensifying competition.
- If delivered, the hub could simplify users’ mobile and desktop workflows, raise paid conversion by exposing Copilot features to more office workers, and make Microsoft’s upcoming model and product announcements at Build the key near-term signals to watch.
