Microsoft Releases Windows 11 Preview KB5077241 With Taskbar Speed Test, Emoji 16, and Reliability Fixes

The optional non-security preview arrives ahead of the March 10 Patch Tuesday rollout.

Overview

  • The update is available now via Windows Update and the Microsoft Update Catalog, moving 25H2 to build 26200.7922 and 24H2 to 26100.7922.
  • A new taskbar option launches an internet speed test in your default browser using Bing’s tool powered by Ookla, accessible from Quick Settings or by right-clicking the network icon.
  • Windows now includes native System Monitor (Sysmon) functionality that is off by default, and Quick Machine Recovery auto-enables on unmanaged Windows Pro devices; RSAT is supported on Arm64.
  • Quality-of-life changes include improved BitLocker recovery reliability, faster and more reliable resume from sleep, better taskbar overflow behavior, File Explorer tweaks, and camera pan/tilt controls.
  • Emoji 16 support reaches the emoji panel, features are rolling out gradually, and large offline .msu installers are available for testing before next month’s broad release.
