Microsoft Recasts Dragon Copilot as Workflow-Native Clinical Assistant at HIMSS 2026

The update brings Microsoft 365 work context, a partner app marketplace and vetted evidence sources into clinicians’ existing tools to reduce documentation burden.

Overview

  • Dragon Copilot now integrates with Microsoft 365 Copilot (Work IQ) to securely surface emails, chats, schedules and SharePoint/OneDrive content directly in clinical workflows, invoked at the cursor across desktop apps.
  • Microsoft opened a Marketplace inside Dragon Copilot for third-party AI apps and agents, with initial partners including Canary Speech, Humata Health, Optum and Regard for tasks such as clinical insights, prior authorization and revenue cycle support.
  • Role-specific expansions include broader ambient documentation for nurses—covering full flowsheet templates, LDA/W entries and Android support for Epic Rover—and tailored radiology workflows that pair with PowerScribe One, with the radiology experience in U.S. preview.
  • The assistant embeds trusted evidence from Wolters Kluwer UpToDate, Elsevier ClinicalKey AI, EBMcalc and Wiley’s Cochrane Library, and adds a governed “safe web search” that returns provenance-linked answers to limit reliance on unverified sites.
  • Microsoft reports more than 100,000 clinicians use Dragon Copilot; new features include ICD-10 code suggestions, reusable templates and PDSQI9-based note quality checks, plus multilingual capture in 58 languages and availability in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands.
