Overview
- Outlook, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview and parts of Teams were disrupted, with users seeing a “451 4.3.2 temporary server issue” during email send and receive attempts.
- Microsoft attributed the incident to a portion of North America service infrastructure that was not processing traffic as expected and said recovery actions are underway.
- Engineers have restored the faulty infrastructure and are redirecting and load balancing traffic, though intermittent impact may persist during stabilization.
- Exchange Online delivery, SharePoint and OneDrive searches, and access to admin portals including Microsoft Purview, Defender XDR and the Microsoft 365 admin center were affected.
- User reports on Downdetector surged into the tens of thousands after about 2:30 p.m. ET, then began declining, and this followed a separate Microsoft 365/Teams disruption the previous day.
