Michoacán Prosecutors Step Up Raids, Seize Drugs and Slot Machines in Multiple Towns

The operations show coordinated use of police, K9 units and military support to quickly move suspects into formal judicial proceedings.

Overview

  • The Fiscalía General del Estado of Michoacán carried out coordinated raids over Friday and Saturday that targeted small-scale drug sales known as narcomenudeo and led to multiple arrests and seizures.
  • In a July 17 search in central Morelia agents confiscated 16 gaming machines and 15 bags of a crystalline substance identified as methamphetamine weighing 12.6 grams, which the FGE says equals 315 doses, and detained Angélica Anaid “N”.
  • On July 18 two warrants executed in Tarímbaro produced a combined 722 reported doses of drugs and three detentions, with officials reporting 16.6 grams of methamphetamine (about 415 doses) plus marijuana at one address and about 250 doses of methamphetamine at another.
  • The Fiscalía obtained four vinculaciones a proceso in separate cases in Morelia, Álvaro Obregón and Zitácuaro, with charges ranging from possession to sale and supply, and judges imposing measures that include pretrial detention and other restrictions.
  • Authorities say the actions used specialized units (PDI, Unidad K9) and perimeter support from municipal police, the Guardia Nacional and the military, detainees were turned over to the Ministerio Público, and investigations remain open to clarify responsibilities.
