Michoacán Expands Gertrudis Bocanegra Scholarship Card Rollout to UPN and Normal Schools

Recipients will get 1,900 pesos every two months via direct prepaid cards.

Overview

  • More than 800 cards were handed out Wednesday in Morelia, including 498 for students at BCENUF, ENE, ENEF, ENSM and CAMM and 331 for UPN unit 161.
  • The program is set to benefit over 44,000 higher‑education students across Michoacán in 2026.
  • The rollout began earlier in the week at UTM, ITESZ and Ucemich in coordination with the Benito Juárez scholarships office.
  • The state projects investment exceeding 418 million pesos for the scholarship during 2026.
  • Further distributions are scheduled this week across normal schools and institutes in Jiquilpan, Morelia, La Piedad, Puruándiro, UPN sites in Morelia and Zamora, Imced and the Technological University of Eastern Michoacán in Maravatío, with campuses notifying dates.
