Michelin Wins Hypercar Tyre Deal Through 2032 as Goodyear Keeps LMGT3 Role

It secures tyre supply for the 2030 regulations cycle across WEC plus IMSA to give teams continuity during a major technical change.

Overview

  • The FIA and Automobile Club de l’Ouest announced Tuesday that Michelin will be the exclusive Hypercar tyre supplier through the 2032 WEC season while Goodyear will continue as the exclusive LMGT3 supplier.
  • The decision follows a contested tender that was delayed from an original Le Mans announcement after Goodyear carried out on-track tests for Hypercar development earlier this year.
  • FIA and ACO officials said they judged bidders on technical performance, operational capability, sustainability commitments and customer support when selecting the suppliers.
  • Michelin’s extension means it will equip the new 2030-generation top-class prototypes in both the WEC and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, reducing a major variable for teams as rules change.
  • Both manufacturers praised the outcome with Michelin citing renewed confidence and innovation goals and Goodyear committing continued technical support for LMGT3 as teams adjust development and race plans.
