MIAA Field Hockey Brackets Set as State Tournament Kicks Off

Division 2 lacks a clear favorite despite Hingham holding the top seed.

Overview

  • Preliminary and early first-round games began Wednesday, with state finals scheduled for the weekend of Nov. 15 at Burlington High.
  • Division 1 features No. 1 Walpole pursuing a third straight championship, with Franklin, Wellesley and Winchester positioned as leading contenders.
  • Uxbridge moved up to Division 3 and enters as the unbeaten No. 1 with a record power rating, while four-time reigning D3 champion Watertown is seeded fifth after its 103-game unbeaten streak ended in September.
  • In Division 2, defending champion Somerset Berkley is the No. 3 seed and features junior Ryan Crook, with Hingham seeded first and Nashoba second in a deep field.
  • Monomoy holds the top seed in Division 4 ahead of Dennis-Yarmouth and Cohasset, and statewide girls’ volleyball brackets are also set with Chelmsford atop Division 1 at 20-0.
