- The Comisión Reguladora de Telecomunicaciones (CRT) reported 56,797,762 mobile lines successfully linked to CURPs by the night of Friday, June 5, leaving a large share of the country’s roughly 144.6 million active lines still to register.
- Lines that remain unlinked after the legal cutoff on June 30 will be inhabilitated so they cannot make ordinary calls, send SMS or use mobile data though they can still receive emergency messages and call emergency numbers.
- Users can register online through operator portals or in store by uploading an official ID and completing facial verification; prepaid customers must register themselves while postpaid plans may be linked by operators using existing contract data.
- The CRT says operators alone hold the minimal linkage data (name and CURP), the federal government does not run a central user database, and any official access to records requires a judicial order.
