Mexico Sets Jan. 9 Start for Mandatory Mobile Line Linking With Certified CURP

Regulators say the measure targets phone-based crimes through identity-verified service.

Overview

  • Users must visit their carrier’s Customer Service Center to link each mobile line using a certified CURP and a valid official ID.
  • Only CURPs that display the legend “CURP certificada: verificada con el Registro Civil” with a digital verification code will be accepted.
  • The certified CURP can be downloaded at www.gob.mx/curp; if it is not certified, users must validate it with the Civil Registry or contact SEGOB at 800 911 1111 ext. 15100/15101.
  • Providers say they will retain only basic data—name, CURP or RFC, phone number, ID type, validation result, and a dated linkage folio—and no additional biometric information.
  • Reports cite either a national deadline of June 29, 2026 or a 120‑day window from Jan. 9, and unlinked lines risk suspension until registration is completed.
