Mexico Reports 334 Respiratory Tuberculosis Cases in Latest Week, 1,289 Year to Date

Health authorities urge rapid detection with intensified weekly surveillance.

  • Weekly counts in January were 215 (Jan 4–10), 369 (Jan 11–17), 372 (Jan 18–24) and 334 (Jan 25–31).
  • Chiapas ranks fourth nationally with 106 cases, including 71 men and 35 women, according to the national surveillance system.
  • Respiratory tuberculosis spreads through the air from Mycobacterium tuberculosis; common symptoms include persistent cough, fever, weight loss and night sweats, and the public is advised to seek evaluation for ongoing symptoms.
