Mexico Marks 100 Million Medicine Deliveries as IMSS Grants Permanent Posts in Michoacán

The initiative focuses on rural access to care by pairing rapid drug deliveries with secure jobs.

Overview

  • IMSS-Bienestar reported surpassing 100 million medication pieces delivered by December 6 through its Rutas de la Salud network, roughly four months after launch.
  • The fourth delivery cycle moved more than 14 million pieces to about 640 hospitals and specialized units via 326 active routes.
  • Officials said the distribution now reaches 8,440 health centers and 646 IMSS-Bienestar hospitals, including remote communities traditionally short on supplies.
  • At a Morelia event tied to the Plan Michoacán, IMSS announced permanent appointments for 300 health workers, though some local reports put the figure at 270.
  • The new posts include 127 women and 143 men across specialties such as family medicine, surgery, gynecology, neonatology, intensive care and pediatrics, with assignments spanning rural hospitals like Paracho, Huetamo and Tuxpan.
