Mexico Launches Nationwide Delivery of 153.4 Million Free Textbooks for 2026–2027

The first 28 million volumes left Conaliteg’s Tlalnepantla hub, launching a 3,568‑trip plan to stock 352 warehouses before handoff to state authorities.

Overview

  • The initial convoy is bound for Chiapas, Oaxaca, Tabasco, Puebla, Veracruz and the State of Mexico from Conaliteg’s distribution center.
  • SEP and Conaliteg say the campaign will supply materials to 23.3 million students and 1.2 million teachers across preschool, primary, secondary, telesecundaria, indigenous and special education.
  • Final delivery to individual schools falls under state education authorities once regional warehouses are stocked.
  • The print run includes Braille and large‑print editions for 13,767 learners with blindness or low vision, plus versions in 20 indigenous languages with 10 more planned.
  • Production emphasized sustainability, using 1,955 tonnes of recycled paper to make about 6.96 million books, supported by a 32,000‑kg paper and cardboard donation from Conalep.
