- The Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP) confirmed the national end date for the 2025–26 school cycle remains July 15 while granting states flexibility to change local calendars and class modalities.
- At least ten states have formally advanced their basic-education closing dates to earlier in June or early July, including Chihuahua, Colima, Yucatán, Tlaxcala, Baja California, San Luis Potosí (Huasteca), Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Guanajuato and Sinaloa.
- The Ciudad de México government announced a one-day suspension of classes on June 11 for the World Cup inauguration, and Jalisco will keep its calendar but shift to virtual classes on match days (June 11, 18, 23 and 26) to ease mobility and logistics.
- Schools and some universities are already altering end-of-course plans: many have simplified or moved graduations, completed regular classes early, or scheduled final and extraordinary evaluations to match new local dates.
- Parents and teachers should watch local education authority notices because the SEP’s flexibility lets states change schedules, class hours or modality to protect students from extreme heat or to manage World Cup operations and related logistics.
