- The federal government formally handed over the Indicación Geográfica “Aguacate Franja Michoacán” in public events on Tuesday, marking the completion of a process whose declaratory was published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación on May 4, 2026.
- The protection covers 31 municipalities in the Franja Michoacán and is said to affect tens of thousands of growers, with sources citing roughly 35,000–48,000 producers and about 94 packing companies.
