Mexico City’s Hoy No Circula Runs Normally Monday With Yellow 5–6 Plates Off the Road

Officials kept contingency measures off despite localized pollution reports.

Overview

  • Regular Monday rules apply from 5:00 to 22:00, blocking yellow-sticker cars with plates ending in 5 and 6 that carry holograms 1 and 2 in Mexico City and eligible State of Mexico municipalities.
  • Authorities have not declared an environmental contingency, so the stricter Doble Hoy No Circula is not in effect.
  • The city’s air monitoring system reported poor air in Iztacalco, Iztapalapa and Nezahualcóyotl, and health officials urge sensitive groups to limit outdoor exercise.
  • SSC and Semovi enforce the rule through fines of 20 to 30 UMAs, about 2,346 to 3,519 pesos, with possible towing to an impound lot.
  • Sedema’s exemption list covers electric and some hybrid vehicles, classic and disability plates, and emergency units, while the ozone season through June 30 allows CAMe to widen bans if pollution spikes.
