Overview
- The program, which operated normally Tuesday after air readings stayed below Phase 1 contingency thresholds, restricts driving from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. across all 16 Mexico City boroughs and 18 adjoining State of Mexico municipalities.
- Restrictions this week follow the usual rules that sort cars by windshield sticker color, plate ending, and verification hologram, with Tuesday targeting pink stickers, plates ending in 7 and 8, and holograms 1 and 2.
- No Doble Hoy No Circula is in effect, and authorities reported “acceptable” air quality Tuesday morning, which allowed the standard single-sticker limits to stay in place.
- Exempt vehicles include those with 00 or 0 holograms, electric and hybrid cars, motorcycles, disability plates, emergency units, public transport, and other authorized services.
- Fines for violations range from 20 to 30 UMAs in 2026—about 2,250 to 3,500 pesos—and police can impound vehicles, while CAMe leaders and experts say the program now covers far fewer cars than in past years and call for stronger air monitoring.
