Mexico City Keeps Normal Wednesday ‘Hoy No Circula’ as Air Quality Deteriorates and Marches Disrupt Routes

Unhealthy particulate readings this morning heightened the risk of an environmental contingency.

Overview

  • Restrictions for Wednesday run 5:00–22:00 for vehicles with red sticker, plate endings 3 and 4, and verification hologram 1 or 2 across CDMX and applicable Estado de México zones, including the Valle de Toluca.
  • Authorities reported poor air at several monitoring stations due to PM10 and PM2.5, yet no ‘Doble Hoy No Circula’ has been declared.
  • The C5 listed multiple mobilizations expected to slow or close key corridors, including Paseo de la Reforma 164 toward the Zócalo at 07:30 and planned concentrations in Benito Juárez, Coyoacán, Miguel Hidalgo, Álvaro Obregón, Xochimilco and Iztapalapa.
  • Exemptions remain in force for vehicles with hologram 00 and 0, electric and hybrid cars, public transport, emergency units and other officially authorized cases.
  • Violations risk fines based on UMA rates and possible vehicle impoundment under CDMX enforcement rules.
