Mexico City Area Enforces Normal 'Hoy No Circula' Rules for Thursday, Feb. 5

Good air quality reported by CAMe keeps the program in its standard Thursday mode.

Overview

  • Vehicles with verification hologram 1 or 2, green sticker, and plates ending in 1 or 2 are restricted from 05:00 to 22:00 today.
  • 'Hoy No Circula' applies across all Mexico City boroughs and in conurbated State of Mexico municipalities, as well as the Toluca and Santiago Tianguistenco metropolitan zones.
  • Exempt vehicles include those with 00 or 0 holograms, electric and certain hybrid cars, emergency units, public transport, motorcycles, and vehicles with disability plates or official exemptions.
  • Enforcement includes fines and, in Mexico City, potential impoundment; only authorized Transit Police can ticket in CdMx, while in Edomex sanctions are issued by state or municipal security personnel.
  • Media cite different fine ranges: many reference 20–30 UMAs (about 2,346–3,519 MXN) in CdMx, while others report a broader 20–200 UMA range, underscoring the need to consult official notices.
