Overview
- Mexico City held a one-day digital registration on Tuesday, June 23, for its Seguro de Desempleo that offers 3,566.22 pesos per month for up to three months and has an 86.6 million peso budget to serve 7,494 people.
- The CDMX application is fully online through Llave CDMX, requires an uploaded dossier (ID, CURP and proof of job loss), and the Secretariat of Labor will review submissions within 30 business days before publishing approved folios.
- The State of Mexico opened registrations on June 22 with online enrollment running through July 5 and in-person help available at regional employment offices from June 22–26; successful applicants may receive up to 9,000 pesos in three monthly payments of 3,000 pesos.
- Both programs set strict eligibility and exclusion rules, including age and residence limits, proof of prior formal employment, and barring people who already receive pensions or similar subsidies; CDMX also limits how often a person can receive the grant.
- The measures respond to sustained joblessness in the area, with official data showing more than 140,000 experienced workers unemployed in Mexico City at the end of 2025, and officials say the cash plus training and placement services aim to shorten job searches and reduce immediate household strain.
