Overview
- President Claudia Sheinbaum approved the temporary entry of 12 members of the U.S. Seventh Special Forces Group under an official decree published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación.
- The mission, designated Event SOF1 “Capacitación MEXOF (Defensa),” runs from Feb. 27 to July 15 at three Mexican military facilities.
- Exercises are scheduled at the Special Forces Training Center in Temamatla and the Regional Training Center in San Miguel de los Jagüeyes, both in Estado de México, and at Air Base No. 4 in Cozumel, Quintana Roo.
- The delegation will travel on a U.S. Air Force aircraft, arriving at Santa Lucía’s Air Base No. 1 and departing July 15 from Cozumel.
- The authorization permits necessary armament for instruction only, excludes any public security roles, and requires SEDENA to report results to the Senate within 30 days after activities conclude.
