- Security Minister Omar García Harfuch announced on July 30 that Ramon Angel, known as “El R1,” was arrested as the suspected leader of the Los Rs cell accused of ordering the November killing of Uruapan Mayor Carlos Manzo.
- Authorities say Los Rs worked for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and ran extortion, homicide and drug trafficking activities across parts of Michoacán and Jalisco.
- Local reporting said the capture took place in Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco, where soldiers and armed vehicles were deployed during the operation.
- At least 31 people have been detained in the investigation, including a 17-year-old who is accused of firing at Manzo before he was killed, and officials say inquiries remain ongoing.
