Overview
- The Mexican Navy, which intercepted two small vessels on Saturday, seized 86 bundles weighing about 2,990 kilograms of presumed cocaine and detained four people.
- A naval patrol plane first detected unusual movements and an oceanic patrol vessel with an embarked helicopter carried out the coordinated sea interception and inspections.
- Authorities also recovered 20 jerrycans containing roughly 1,000 liters of prepared gasoline, eight empty containers, and secured both vessels as evidence.
- Semar informed the detainees of their rights and said the ship will hand people and evidence to the Fiscalía General de la República for ministerial weighing and legal processing.
- The Navy estimates the seizure would have yielded about 5.98 million doses and some 652.9 million pesos to organized crime, and it says the haul raises the administration's reported maritime total to nearly 77 tonnes as Pacific patrols intensify in 2026.
