Mexican Navy Seizes More Than Two Tons of Cocaine Off Guerrero Coast

The Navy says the hauls hit traffickers’ finances while pushing maritime cocaine seizures past 71–72 tonnes for the administration.

Overview

  • The Navy found 29 floating bales weighing about 1,360 kilograms near Boca Chica, Tecpan de Galeana, during routine patrols, the service reported on Sunday.
  • A separate interception the next day targeted a small boat about 195 nautical miles south of Guerrero and recovered 13 bales totaling roughly 829 kilograms while detaining five people.
  • Both consignments were moved to Acapulco and turned over to the federal security ministry and the attorney general for ministerial weighing and criminal investigation.
  • Officials estimate the two seizures together represent about 463 million pesos in lost revenue for traffickers and prevented roughly 4.2 million street doses from reaching the market.
  • Authorities said the operations form part of sustained maritime, air and coastal patrols to disrupt Pacific trafficking routes where criminals use fast boats, at-sea transshipment and abandoned bales, and that maritime seizures under the current administration now exceed 71–72 tonnes.
