Mexican Forces Kill 'Pichón' in Sinaloa Raid Targeting Chapo Isidro Cell

He had been charged with narcoterrorism by the United States.

Overview

  • The Navy, federal security ministry and national prosecutor’s office carried out a November 30 operation in the Sierra de Choix, where naval personnel were fired upon and returned fire.
  • Pedro Inzunza Coronel, known as “Pichón,” was killed during the exchange, and two suspects were detained: Adelemo Pérez Hernández, alias “Lemu,” and Miguel Ángel Villalba Castillo.
  • Authorities seized three handguns, a grenade, four vehicles, two mobile phones and a bag containing about one kilogram of fentanyl pills at the initial sites.
  • Two clandestine synthetic‑drug laboratories were located with 1,425 kilograms of crystal meth, one kilogram of fentanyl, about 600 liters of chemical precursors, a reactor, various containers, a rifle, cartridges and a truck.
  • SEMAR identified “Pichón” as a second‑level plaza chief within the Chapo Isidro faction, and officials said processing of the sites and detainees continues alongside the earlier U.S. indictment issued in May.
