Mexican Carriers Roll Out In‑Flight Wi‑Fi and World Cup Streaming Offers

This is a push to let passengers stream FIFA World Cup matches on board with access set by aircraft type and account requirements.

Overview

  • Aeroméxico announced a time‑limited partnership with streaming service ViX that will provide free onboard access to ViX content from June 11 through July 31, 2026.
  • The free offer is restricted to ViX streaming only and requires passengers to use a personal device and an active ViX account while full web browsing or other apps require purchase of an additional internet package.
  • Aeroméxico said the ViX promotion will be available across its Boeing 737 MAX fleet and on selected Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Embraer 190 aircraft, so not all flights will carry the benefit.
  • Viva Aerobús has started installing high‑speed satellite Wi‑Fi supplied by SES and reports the service is already operational on more than 10 aircraft with progressive retrofits planned across its fleet.
  • The moves reflect a wider trend of airlines pairing satellite connectivity and streaming tie‑ins to let passengers watch live events and work in flight, but broader internet access remains a paid option and coverage will expand gradually as more aircraft are equipped.
