Meta to End Horizon Worlds on Quest June 15, Shifting the Platform to Mobile

The company positions Horizon as a mobile product, saying its VR headset roadmap remains intact.

Overview

  • Meta confirmed that Horizon Worlds will be removed from Quest headsets on June 15, 2026, ending VR access to the service.
  • By March 31, Horizon Worlds and Events will disappear from the Quest Store, and worlds like Horizon Central, Events Arena, Kaiju, and Bobber Bay will no longer be available in VR.
  • Viewing of Hyperscape captures moves out of Horizon Worlds by March 24, with capturing still supported but sharing, inviting, and co-experiencing no longer available.
  • Horizon-specific perks in Meta Horizon Plus—Meta Credits, digital clothing, avatars, and in‑world purchases—will be dropped by March 31, though core gaming benefits and monthly games remain.
  • After June 15, access to Horizon Worlds continues only through the Meta Horizon mobile app, as reporting ties the shift to Meta’s broader focus on AI and Ray‑Ban smart glasses alongside stated ongoing investment in future VR headsets.
