Overview
- Meta announced on Wednesday that Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus will cost $3.99 per month and WhatsApp Plus will cost $2.99 per month, with each plan adding app-specific tools like story controls on Instagram and Facebook and themes, stickers and extra pinned chats on WhatsApp.
- The company said it will start testing Meta One AI tiers priced at $7.99 and $19.99 per month in Singapore, Guatemala and Bolivia next month and will trial creator and business plans priced at $14.99 and $49.99 in markets including Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Thailand and Bangladesh.
- Meta confirmed the new offerings do not replace the separate Meta Verified product and said a free version of Meta AI will remain available but heavy users will face new limits on image and video generation and on higher-capacity ‘Thinking mode’.
- Investors responded positively, sending Meta shares up roughly 3 to 4 percent on the news, while the company framed the subscriptions as a way to monetize heavy AI spending by turning occasional features into steady recurring revenue.
- The move follows months of limited tests and joins a wider industry push to sell premium AI and creator services, and it could change how power users and creators access advanced generation, analytics and search-ranking tools on Meta’s apps.
