Overview
- A woman in her 20s was raped in an alley behind a supermarket on Clapham High Street after a night out on 14 February when she became separated from a companion.
- On 1 July the Metropolitan Police issued an e-fit and a public appeal describing the suspect as about 5ft 11in, thin, with thick eyebrows, a thick beard and black hair, wearing a plain white top, jeans and trainers.
- The victim fought the attacker off and later reported the incident; she is receiving support from specially trained officers and Detective Constable Kay Paterson is leading the investigation.
- Police say the victim and suspect moved between a pub and a supermarket before the assault and are asking anyone who saw them or who can check local CCTV to contact 101 using reference 4819/26FEB.
- An e-fit is a digitally produced facial composite used to jog witnesses’ memories, and the Met hopes releasing the image months after the attack will generate new leads while the suspect remains at large.
