Overview
- The woman, in her 20s, told police she was approached from behind in a communal garden and had a strongly smelling cloth placed over her mouth before she escaped, and the same man then tried to force entry to her Hornsey Road property on 25 May 2025.
- She reported seeing the same man outside her home on 4 April, 7 April and 10 April 2026, and those repeat sightings prompted detectives to reopen the investigation and carry out fresh enquiries.
- Officers worked with the victim to produce an e-fit image, which the Met has circulated to thousands of officers while detectives have reviewed many hours of CCTV and conducted door-to-door checks in the area.
- Police describe the suspect as a Black man in his early 40s, about 6ft tall, wearing a black jacket with a Stone Island logo, and they say he has not yet been identified.
- Detective Constable Paul Le Fevre has appealed for public help and asks anyone with information to call 101 quoting reference 01/7421034/26 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, a step the Met says could speed identification and improve local safety.
