Met Police Release CCTV of Man in Lobster Costume Over Alexandra Palace Assault

Detectives say the distinctive fancy dress could help identify a suspect after a darts fan was knocked unconscious and the inquiry remains active.

Overview

  • A man in his 20s was punched and knocked unconscious outside Alexandra Palace during the World Darts Championship, with the attack occurring on 13 December 2025 and leaving the victim with non-life-threatening but serious injuries he still suffers from months later.
  • Police have issued a CCTV image of a man wearing a lobster costume and asked the public to contact 101 with information, quoting reference 6879/13DEC to help trace and question the suspect.
  • Detective Constable Lizzie Coster is leading the investigation and officers say the man was part of a larger group dressed as lobsters who were at the venue during the tournament.
  • Venue security briefly separated the parties after an initial argument at the entrance but the victim and the group later crossed paths on the concourse, where the punch occurred; there have been no public reports of arrests so far.
  • Darts fans commonly wear fancy dress, which police say both explains the costume and complicates identification, and detectives are asking attendees to check photos and videos from the day for possible leads.
