Met Officer Dismissed, Barred After Off-Duty Sexual Assault at Beauty Clinic

The firing followed a misconduct panel finding his off-duty actions breached professional standards after a criminal inquiry closed for lack of evidence.

Overview

  • PC Mark Thomas sexually assaulted a female client during a treatment on 3 August 2022 while working off duty at a beauty clinic.
  • Cambridgeshire Police arrested him but closed the criminal investigation when the evidential threshold was not met.
  • A Metropolitan Police misconduct panel found he breached standards on authority, respect and courtesy, and discreditable conduct, and dismissed him without notice.
  • He will be added to the College of Policing Barred List, preventing employment by police forces and oversight bodies including the IOPC and HMICFRS.
  • Detective Chief Superintendent Simon Stancombe condemned the conduct and noted Thomas had earlier received reflective practice for failing to register the clinic as a business interest.
