Met Launches Murder Inquiry After 19-Year-Old Killed in Finchley Home

The force has asked the public for doorbell and dashcam footage to help establish what happened.

Overview

  • Detectives opened a murder investigation after paramedics reported gunshots at a Dale Grove address and found a 19-year-old woman who was later pronounced dead, with emergency services called at about 12:15am on Monday.
  • Specialist officers have informed and are supporting the victim’s next of kin and a formal identification and post-mortem examination have been scheduled.
  • No arrests have been made and Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo said detectives are working at pace and residents can expect an increased police presence in the coming days.
  • The Met is appealing for anyone with information or doorbell or dashcam footage from around midnight in or near Dale Grove to contact 101 quoting reference 34/8JUN or to report anonymously to Crimestoppers.
  • Some media outlets report a manhunt for the shooter but that operational detail is not confirmed in police statements and investigators say the post-mortem and forensic enquiries will be key to establishing what happened.
