Mercedes Starts Building Electric GLC in Bremen as Electric C‑Class Orders Open

The shift targets Mercedes’ core models to keep buyers moving to EVs without eroding premium pricing.

Overview

  • MercedesBremen plant is now assembling the new GLC, including a fully electric version, on the same line as gasoline and plug‑in hybrid models.
  • Mercedes says the electric GLC drew more first‑quarter orders than any previous EV from the brand.
  • The electric GLC runs on an 800‑volt platform that supports very fast charging, with about 300 kilometers added in roughly 10 minutes under ideal conditions.
  • The all‑electric C‑Class C 400 4Matic lists a 94 kWh battery, up to 762 km of range under Europe’s WLTP test, up to 330 kW fast charging, and a two‑gear rear gearbox.
  • Configurator prices show the electric C‑Class at €67,711 and the electric GLC 400 at about €71,000, with U.S. deliveries planned before Germany in summer 2026.
