Mercedes-Benz Unveils Second-Generation GLB as EV-First SUV

German orders open with two electric variants priced from €59,048 ahead of spring 2026 deliveries.

New GLB has a 60mm longer wheelbase and is 98mm longer overall, which should translate to a roomier cabin.
The new-gen Mercedes-Benz GLB has debuted with EV and ICE powertrains, and will come to India in the latter guise only, at least initially.
New GLB interior is dominated by a triple-screen setup, with the passenger display being an optional extra.

Overview

  • The GLB launches on Mercedes' MMA platform with an 85 kWh battery and 800‑volt architecture enabling up to 320 kW DC fast charging and a claimed 260 km added in 10 minutes.
  • The initial EVs are the rear‑drive GLB 250+ (200 kW, 0–100 km/h in 7.4s) and the dual‑motor GLB 350 4MATIC (260 kW, 0–100 km/h in 5.5s) with WLTP ranges up to 631 km.
  • The redesigned compact SUV grows in length and wheelbase, offers five‑ or seven‑seat layouts, provides 540/480 litres of rear cargo space plus a 127‑litre frunk, and is rated to tow up to two tonnes.
  • Inside, MB. OS with fourth‑gen MBUX brings an optional dash‑spanning Superscreen and an AI virtual assistant integrating Microsoft, Google and ChatGPT‑4o, with OTA updates supported.
  • Mercedes confirms hybrid GLB variants with 48‑volt tech will follow later in 2026, broader regional pricing and EPA range ratings remain pending, and bi‑directional charging (V2H/V2G) is supported.
