Mercedes-Benz Launches Second-Generation GLB as Electric-First SUV, Replacing EQB

Mercedes is integrating its EV tech into the core GLB lineup, retiring the separate EQB badge.

Overview

  • The GLB debuts with two battery-electric variants—RWD GLB 250+ (200 kW) and AWD GLB 350 4MATIC (260 kW)—offering WLTP ranges up to 631 km and 0–100 km/h times of 7.4 and 5.5 seconds respectively.
  • An 85 kWh pack on an 800‑volt architecture enables DC fast charging up to 320 kW (claiming 260 km added in 10 minutes) and 22 kW AC; Mercedes also flags bi‑directional charging capability (V2H/V2G).
  • The new MB. OS with fourth‑gen MBUX offers an optional dashboard‑spanning Superscreen (10.25‑inch driver plus 14‑inch center and passenger displays) and an AI assistant integrating Microsoft and Google services.
  • The larger body retains five‑ and seven‑seat layouts, adds a 127‑litre frunk, and provides up to 540 litres of boot space in five‑seat EVs; towing capacity for the electric model is quoted at up to two tonnes.
  • Orders are open in Germany with prices from €59,048 for the GLB 250+ and €62,178 for the GLB 350 4MATIC, deliveries begin in spring 2026, and petrol‑hybrid variants are slated to follow in 2026/2027.
