Mercedes and Ford Cut Prices in Argentina Following Luxury Tax Repeal Approval

The reductions follow Congress’s move to scrap the levy, with formal changes set to take effect in April.

Overview

  • Mercedes‑Benz published April pricing with average cuts near 13% on about 20 models, including drops exceeding US$50,000 such as the GLE 450 4MATIC to US$164,900 and the GLC 200 4MATIC to roughly US$91,400.
  • Ford reconfigured its lists with steep reductions, including the Mustang GT to US$65,000 (−27.7%), Mustang Dark Horse to US$75,000 (≈−22%), Bronco Badlands to US$74,000 (−26%), and F‑150 variants down roughly 9%–11%.
  • Other brands also adjusted: DS 7 Pallas fell 16% to US$52,500 and the E‑Tense dropped 20% to US$72,000, while Toyota’s Crown slid 13% to US$80,500 and several Lexus models registered cuts of a similar magnitude.
  • Despite headline reductions, many automakers kept March prices unchanged as new‑car registrations fell 6% year over year in February to 42,277 units, according to the DNRPA.
  • Audi and BMW said they will wait for the Boletín Oficial to finalize lists, and an Argentina–U.S. quota of 10,000 vehicles exempt from the 35% extrazona tariff is providing added room to lower import prices.
