Mercedes-AMG Reveals GLC 53 4MATIC+ With Twin-Charged Inline-Six and Drift-Ready AWD

The performance SUV centers on a reengineered 3.0-liter twin-charged inline-six with 48-volt assistance for stronger response.

Overview

  • The reengineered 3.0-liter twin-charged inline-six delivers 330 kW (449 hp) and 600 Nm, with a 48-volt ISG providing 17 kW of boost for torque peaks of 640 Nm.
  • AMG quotes 0–100 km/h in 4.2 seconds when using the RACE START launch function.
  • Power goes through an AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9-speed and, for the first time in a GLC, AMG Performance 4MATIC+ with an electronically controlled rear limited-slip differential and a dedicated Drift mode.
  • Chassis hardware includes AMG RIDE CONTROL adaptive damping, rear-axle steering up to 2.5 degrees, and enlarged brakes with 390 mm front discs and four-piston calipers.
  • A first-year Golden Accents package adds Techgold 21-inch wheels and trim, towing capacity rises to 2,400 kg, and Mercedes-AMG has not announced pricing or on-sale timing.
