Mendoza Raises Reward to 12.5 Million Pesos in Search for Missing Lawyer

Prosecutors have opened international legal requests for Google and health-insurer records, seeking fresh leads for an investigation that remains active.

Overview

  • The lawyer, Nataniel Ricardo Guzmán, was last seen in January 2023 when security cameras recorded him boarding a bus after a reported dispute during a trip to Mar de Ajó.
  • Investigators found Guzmán’s personal effects intact at his home, and the buses involved lacked internal cameras, leaving his final movements unconfirmed and reducing evidence of a voluntary disappearance.
  • Telecom records from Claro place a device linked to Guzmán in the Canota area of Villavicencio on February 2, 2023, but that ping did not produce a traceable location afterward.
  • In late June 2026 the Mendoza government increased the public reward to 12,500,000 pesos and published anonymous tip lines and contact channels for information that can be verified by judicial authorities.
  • The provincial homicide unit has sent formal legal-assistance requests to obtain Google account and device data and has asked OSEP for records, moves prosecutors say could yield actionable leads and help break the multi-year stall in the case.
