Mendoza Enforces Compulsory Child Vaccinations with Fines and Arrests

Under resolutions effective Aug. 7 health and education staff must report vaccination refusals, giving families a 30-day window to catch up on missing shots before violations are filed; penalties then follow.

Overview

  • The Ministry of Health of Mendoza enacted Resolutions N° 2572 and N° 2563 to implement mandatory vaccination protocols under National Law 27.491 and Provincial Contravention Law 9099.
  • Parents or guardians who refuse to follow the immunization schedule face fines of 200–800 fiscal units (up to 336,000 pesos), arrest for up to five days or compulsory community service.
  • All public and private health workers, school personnel and government officials are legally required to report any case of a minor’s vaccination being withheld.
  • If missing doses remain unadministered after the 30-day grace period, cases are referred to the Equipo Técnico Interdisciplinario for formal complaints to police, municipal or judicial authorities.
  • Non-compliance reports will be recorded in provincial databases to help municipalities monitor vaccination coverage gaps through statistical studies.
