Mendoza and Buenos Aires Decrees Reset Police and Penitentiary Pay

Both measures use executive orders to revise salaries outside collective bargaining.

Overview

  • Mendoza and Buenos Aires, which published pay decrees Monday, set new salary schemes for police and provincial prison staff.
  • Mendoza’s Decree 628 grants a 10% raise in two non-cumulative parts, with 7% calculated from March 2026 and 3% from May on the Chief of Police class base.
  • The province also folds the remaining 50% of the long-standing item 2626 into that base from April, lifting the reference used to compute pay across all ranks.
  • Buenos Aires’ Decree 246/2026 resets basic pay and updates bonuses with retroactive dates to August and October 2025, adds uniform and equipment compensation, and excludes civilian staff and cadets.
  • Mendoza issued its order ad referendum of the Legislature and extends it to retirees and pensioners, while Buenos Aires says payouts will begin once payrolls reflect the new values after fiscal and control sign-offs.
