Mendoza Advances Mining Drive With New Cluster and Key Filings at Argentina Mining Cuyo

The proposals now move into legislative and environmental review under clear national backing.

  • Governor Alfredo Cornejo sent DIAs for PSJ Cobre Mendocino and Malargüe Distrito Minero Occidental II, a mining royalties bill, and an environmental compensation fund to the provincial Legislature.
  • Mendoza, Guaymallén, UNCuyo and ASINMET signed the first Cuyo Mining-Energy Cluster with more than 30 suppliers to certify local capacity, expand SMEs and integrate training and sustainability.
  • National Mining Secretary Luis Lucero pledged support and said the first project to produce copper at significant scale in Argentina will be in Mendoza.
  • The package also includes DIA submissions for 27 new exploration projects in MDMO II and the start of environmental reviews for 71 projects in MDMO III.
  • Argentina Mining Cuyo 2025 returned to Mendoza after 17 years with 170 company stands and strong investor interest linked to the RIGI incentives.
