Overview
- Comedian Pablo Villanueva, known as Melcochita, filed a criminal complaint for alleged unlawful appropriation of his car after a 48-hour notarial demand went unanswered. Prosecutors now have the case.
- Monserrat Seminario denies any appropriation and says there was a verbal deal that let her keep the car until it sold so they could split the proceeds. She also says the car was bought during their time living together but registered in his name because she lacked a driver’s license.
- Villanueva rejects the claimed agreement and says the car is his private property purchased before marriage. He also accuses Seminario of heavy spending during the relationship, putting the figure near 200,000 soles.
- Seminario alleges he has not paid child support for about three and a half months and says she recently learned he deposited one month at the state bank. She says she relies on the car to take their daughters to school.
- Peruvian law treats this as a criminal claim, so prosecutors will look for proof such as purchase and registration records, the notarial letter, any deposits, and formal filings. Tabloid TV has aired images of Villanueva with a young woman, which he denies as cohabitation and describes as a worker who cares for him.
