Overview
- The two astronauts conducted the spacewalk on Sept. 1, 2026, exiting the Quest airlock and returning after about six hours and 49 minutes to complete key maintenance and upgrades.
- They replaced a retroreflector on the Harmony module, which visiting spacecraft use to sight and dock safely, and swapped out a high-definition camera on the station truss.
- Crew members also installed jumper cables for data-relay systems and prepared the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer’s radiator by torquing bolts ahead of future repairs to the particle detector.
- A mobility restriction developed in Sophie Adenot’s suit near the end of the EVA but was cleared on orbit after Jessica Meir unzipped part of the upper arm assembly to free a kink, and both returned safely to the airlock.
- The EVA counts as U.S. spacewalk 99 and the 284th ISS spacewalk; it was Meir’s seventh EVA and Adenot’s third, and it continues a recent high cadence of maintenance sorties aimed at sustaining the aging outpost.
