Meghalaya CM Lays Foundation for 10-Bed AYUSH Hospital in South West Garo Hills

  • Conrad K. Sangma laid the foundation for a 10-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Merengipara in South West Garo Hills under the National AYUSH Mission.
  • The project has an outlay of Rs 7 crore for the 2025–26 financial year and moves from approval to on-ground implementation.
  • The facility will offer outpatient and inpatient care focused on lifestyle-related ailments, de-addiction and holistic therapies, and will serve as a wellness hub with yoga, counselling and dietary guidance.
  • Thirty-five posts are proposed, including AYUSH doctors, nurses and yoga instructors, to ensure continuous services in the border district.
  • Citing developments in Bangladesh, the chief minister urged border communities to stay alert and to share information with police and administrators.
  • He noted improved road links in Mahendraganj and said surveys will begin for a possible bypass to ease evening border-gate closures.
