Medical Tribunal Hears GMC Case Against Ex-Apprentice Doctor Over Alleged Antisemitic Posts, Sick-Note Misconduct

Regulators presented alleged hate speech alongside clinical misconduct to a tribunal weighing his fitness to practise.

Overview

  • The GMC told the MPTS that Dr Asif Munaf posted and reposted antisemitic, racist and sexist content on X between October 2023 and July 2025.
  • Examples read to the hearing included Holocaust denial, a claim that 9/11 was a “Jewish job,” and messages equating Zionism with Nazism.
  • Munaf did not attend the virtual hearing and had previously accepted making the posts while denying they were antisemitic.
  • Separate allegations include walking out hours into a January 2024 locum cardiology shift in Coventry and issuing a patient a sick note in November 2024 while suspended, with reporting describing his Dr Sick Ltd service selling sick notes without consultations.
  • He was removed from The Apprentice spin-off You're Fired after a complaint by the Board of Deputies of British Jews and has been under an interim suspension since May 2025, with the tribunal proceedings continuing.
