McRoberts House Fire Leaves 70-Year-Old Homeowner Dead

Authorities have identified the victim as Robert Mullins, with the cause under investigation.

Kentucky State Police Post 13 and local first responders were dispatched around 7:40 a.m. Saturday to a structure fire on KY Highway 343 in the McRoberts community.
Crews arrived to find the residence fully engulfed in flames and extinguished the fire before conducting a search.
Investigators located human remains inside the home believed to be those of homeowner Robert Mullins, 70, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Letcher County Coroner.
No foul play is suspected at this time, according to authorities.
The remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for autopsy, and the investigation into the fire’s origin and cause continues.
