Overview
- McLaren ran the MCL-HY for the first time at Dallara’s Varano circuit in Italy, with Mikkel Jensen completing installation laps and system checks in the new Hypercar.
- Following Monday’s public reveal in a McLaren M6A–inspired test livery, the development program now moves into on-track testing with support from Grégoire Saucy, Richard Verschoor and Ben Hanley.
- The prototype uses a Dallara LMDh carbon monocoque and a twin‑turbo V6 paired with a spec hybrid motor, capped at about 520 kW to the rear axle and a minimum weight of 1,030 kg.
- United Autosports will operate a two-car works entry in the 2027 World Endurance Championship, with homologation and Balance of Performance checks that equalize cars scheduled through late 2026 and early 2027 and further drivers to be confirmed.
- McLaren also unveiled the MCL-HY GTR, a track-only customer car without the hybrid system that targets about 720–730 PS and lower weight, with a two-year Project: Endurance ownership program and first deliveries planned for late 2027.
